AMERTRON DEVELOPS NEW ROUTE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Amertron Inc has combined innovative, proprietary equipment and software into a web based tracking system – Arcade Tracker. Arcade Tracker is scaleable: small to medium-size operators can enjoy many of the advantages of a card system at a fraction of the initial cost and lower annual costs per machine.
Amertron Inc has had great success with the development of aftermarket arcade products. In business for over 30 years, this thriving company has accepted the challenge of the tough but profitable arcade industry. For most of those years, Amertron has manufactured electronic components for every branch of the United States military. The electronic components manufactured for military purposes have had to be built of the highest quality that can handle the most extreme conditions.
Amertron’s business model changed in July 2002, when Amertron Inc recruited James Harhi from Walt Disney World. Harhi was responsible for the coin-op industry for all of Disney's Florida theme parks, resorts, and cruise ships. With over 1,200 machines and 28 locations, his hands on management led to a comprehensive understanding of the coin-op industry. As a new member of the Amertron team, he worked with Amertron’s engineering staff to develop better solutions to arcade industry problems. One example is the development of replacement parts for Konami's MoCap Boxing game. These and other products were an instant hit in the industry because of their reliability and ready availability.
As Amertron developed products and won customers, the arcade commercial parts division was spun off into a new company – Amergames Inc. Amergames sales continue to grow and customers have seen a seamless transition to the new website and marketing effort.
Amergames strong sales figures are related to the company’s open communications with its customers. Customers’ suggestions are welcomed as Amergames is constantly looking for new products to design and to improve existing products.
In November 2003, Amertron started a service division called Amertron ASG (Arcade Service Group). This division has over 20 people working in the Orlando area. The team provides service to customer owned arcade equipment. Amertron ASG provides Amertron with hands on feedback on company developed arcade products and development of new arcade products that may be difficult or costly for the arcade owner to acquire.
With his extensive experience in the arcade industry, Harhi believed that route operators needed timely, accurate information in order to optimize route profitability. The ideal system would provide faster notice of out-of-service, monitor revenue, cost of maintenance, and time to service. The system would also be less costly to install and operate than a card system, and require less training of employees. Amertron set out to meet this challenge, by creating the Arcade Tracker.
First, Amertron developed an on-line Arcade Management Portal. On this secure website, all games, locations, downtimes, parts ordering, and revenues would be tracked for the operators. The website has a Customer Interface that allows an operator’s customer to enter problems or requests into the website without compromising the operator’s security. The operator can log on to the website or instruct the website to page to the operator’s email, cell phone, or text pager.
Next Harhi led Amertron to develop the ATOM (Arcade Tracker Onboard Meter). The ATOM is a printed circuit board assembly that tracks daily revenues for arcade machines. The ATOM’s data is collected by IR to a Pocket PC PDA that can jpload the data to the website. By using the ATOM and the Arcade Management Portal website (www.arcadetracker.com), an operator can track down times, parts, and review revenue by day. The operator will no longer have to spend time collecting or replacing meters. Amertron believes that operators who cannot afford or do not want a card system will find this the most cost effective solution for their operation.
Arcadetracker will make its public debut at the Fun Expo in Las Vegas (when??). Amertron has field tested the units and software and will begin production and presales on August 15, 2004. For more information on how to own and use Arcade Tracker, contact James Harhi. Harhi can be reached by email james.harhi@amertron.com or cell phone 321-354-5204.
